I remember as a young child, watching futuristic sci-fi movies set in the year 2013. Now I live in the year 2013 and there are no flying space craft, intelligent robots or optional space colonies. It’s just life as usual, and the greatest changes to my childhood life are the computer, social media and the mobile phone. As far as I know cars still need roads and humans still do most of the work. So things do not change that quickly, and strangely enough I find reassurance in this.
I also find great reassurance in one thing that never changes – God’s Word. 2013 has started in a great way for me, and I admit, I am tempted to relate this to some of the sacrifices I made in 2012, but I will not be that stupid. I serve a faithful God and HE is the one that is due all the glory.
David had just fought and won an incredible battle against the sons of giants and he said these words which I fully echo:
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
The God of my rock; in Him will I trust;
He is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour;
thou saves me from violence.
I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised;
so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
So my first post in 2013 is an acknowledgement of God; my God. My provider and my Lord. The One who fulfils his promises. The One who protects me and my family.
To You be all the glory and may my life truly be a catalogue of thanksgiving to you this year.
